Switch from Google SSO to email/password login

I created an account and paid using my google ID. However i want to change that to use a username/password, as I will be changing my google account soon. Please let me know how to make this correction.

👋🏻 Hey ​@Joseph Obozuwa, welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for the heads-up on this!

I see what you mean, since you created and paid for your account through Google (Google SSO), your email and password are managed by Google — so you can't change them directly in Figma. To navigate this, you can switch your account to an email-and-password login, which is what you'll want before moving off that Google account.

Here's how:

  1. Log out of Figma.
  2. Go to figma.com, click Log in, then Reset password.
  3. Follow the prompts to get a reset email and set a new password.
  4. From then on, you can log in with your current email + new password — no Google needed. You can then change the account email to any address you like.

👉🏻 Important note: Do this while you still have access to your current Google email, since the reset link goes there. If you lose access first, you'll need to contact Customer Support to recover the account.
