Sudden Performance issues + Bugs

Hello!

 

I’ve been noticing a surge of bugs with the latest release.

  • Opening files within a project is not always responsive (Figma Home)
  • Selecting a Project Folder from the sidebar has occasionally been non-responsive
  • The back/forward navigation buttons are currently non-responsive (Figma Home)
  • Keyboard shortcuts like CMD+scroll to zoom often get locked when not pressing cmd (not a keyboard issue – I’ve tested this with other keyboards)

Figma sites-specific issues:

  • Adding a “Block” only shows embedded html, audio, or videos – pages, navigation, heroes, and features are all hidden for an unknown reason, and only re-surfaces when I’ve force closed Figma, the project file, and re-opened it again.
  • Prototype does not display proper fonts, even after confirming the font chosen is a Google Font and not custom.
  • Automatic multi-text editor, when selecting the primary breakpoint, often does not update smaller breakpoints.
    • I typically have to edit it on the primary breakpoint, then select the same frames on smaller breakpoints → select “Reset all changes” in order for them to update to the proper, edited text.
  • Text styles default to the smallest breakpoint, if defined.
    • i.e. a font is set to 64px as the main style, with a breakpoint of 1-480px on mobile decreasing the size to 32px. When this font is applied to the desktop size, it defaults to 32px instead of 64px.
  • Selecting multiple frames on the primary breakpoint and bulk editing the width does not work (it only applies to 1-2 selected frames at random)

 

For additional context, I’m running Figma Desktop App version 125.4.9.

 

I’ve been loving Figma for the past 5 years, but these bugs are really starting to impact my workflow and can become quite frustrating. Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks for sharing such detailed feedback and being a longtime Figma user! Your insights are valuable to us. I'm really sorry about the issues you've been experiencing. Let me address your concerns one by one:

For the file browser problems, I know you're probably familiar with these troubleshooting steps (being the Figma pro that you are 🙏), but just in case:

  • Try closing any Figma tabs you're not actively using
  • Browser users : Force-quit and open Figma in a fresh browser window. Also worth disabling extensions one by one to identify any conflicts
  • Desktop App users : Force-quit and restart the app. If things are still wonky, clearing the cache often helps

As for the general performance issues (slow file loading, laggy behavior, etc.), we'd love to get more specifics through our performance reporting tool: http://figma.bot/submitreport

Regarding Sites:

  • Good news - the block issue has been fixed! You should be able to see all blocks once you reload the file. Sorry about that hiccup.
  • For the font issues - are you using any local versions of Google Fonts? In a different thread,, deactivating local fonts resolved this problem. Mind giving that a try?
  • For your last three points, I'm trying to reproduce these issues but might be missing something. I know it's a bit of work, but could you share some screenshots or screen recordings of what you're seeing? If I can reproduce the behavior, I'll file a bug report right away.
