Hello Figma Support Team,

I’m writing to report an issue where I’ve lost access to Figma designs that were created for me, even though the designer was the original owner of the files.

The designer initially owned the file and shared access with me during the project. However, when I tried to open the file today, I found that my access had been removed and the file is now asking me to request access again. This was done without any prior notice.

Details of the issue:

  • My Figma account email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)

  • Figma file link: [redacted]

  • File / Project name: FALcom – V1

  • Designer / file owner username on Figma: Intel Grafix

  • Date access was removed: Unknown (I discovered the issue today when access was no longer available)

  • Nature of the agreement: Client–Designer (designs were created specifically for my business/project)

Although the designer was the original owner of the file, the designs were created for my use. Losing access has caused disruption to my work. I can provide supporting evidence if required, including:

  • Proof of payment or commitment

  • Chat or written agreement

  • Screenshots showing previous access

  • Project-related communication

I kindly request your assistance in reviewing this case and advising on the appropriate steps to restore access or resolve the issue fairly.

Thank you for your time and support.

Kind regards,
Yasir Hafiz

Hi @Yasir hafiz - apologies if this has been causing delays or any distress with your work. First, I want to preface that as a forum moderator, I am not authorized to make any kind of changes to Figma files, accounts, or billing overall, but I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

There is currently one thing that stands out to me. You mentioned the following:

Although the designer was the original owner of the file, the designs were created for my use. Losing access has caused disruption to my work.

If that is the case, the owner of the file likely removed your access to it themselves -- see here on what happens when they do that: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040530793-Remove-or-adjust-access#h_01K6NSSNEB8ZC8AEGH2MHZBZGX

At this time, I would recommend you reach out to support with the information you provided in your post here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

While the information you’ve provided may be helpful in verifying the file itself, there may still be limited options available to you in actually getting access to the file. Ownership of the file is the key issue for you, and I must emphasize that I cannot make promises on any actions that can be done in your situation.

I hope this was a little helpful.
