Several students are currently experiencing errors with their Figma Education accounts even after completing the verification process successfully. Their accounts were approved under the Education plan; however, they are encountering access limitations or feature restrictions that suggest the verification may not be fully applied and the system is requesting verification again after being verified.

The issues reported include restricted access to education features, workspace limitations, or messages indicating they are still on a non-education plan despite verification confirmation.

This is affecting their ability to complete coursework and collaborate within class projects. We would appreciate assistance reviewing these accounts to ensure the Education plan benefits are properly activated.

Please let us know if specific account emails or additional documentation are required.

Hey @Sali Mercado, thanks for reaching out!

There are a couple of common reasons this can happen, so let’s quickly rule those out first:

-Education status doesn’t automatically upgrade a team

Even if an individual account is successfully verified under the Education plan, the team itself does not upgrade automatically. The team needs to be on the Education plan in order for the features and limits to reflect properly.

To check this:

  • From the file browser, switch to the relevant team and click All projects

  • Click the dropdown next to the team name and select View settings

  • If prompted, select Upgrade your plan

  • Choose the Education/Professional option available to verified users

Sometimes creating a new team after verification also resolves plan sync issues.

-Account mismatch

Another common cause is that the Education verification was applied to a different Figma account than the one currently logged in.

Please double-check that each affected student is logged into the exact same email used during the SheerID verification process.

If the issue persists, the best next step would be to email education@figma.com so the Education team can directly review the impacted accounts and ensure the plan benefits are properly applied.

When reaching out, it helps to include:

  • The affected account email addresses

  • Screenshots of the plan status and restriction messages

  • A short summary of what’s already been tried

Once you’ve contacted the Education team, feel free to share your support ticket number here. I’m happy to help escalate it internally and ask the team to take a closer look as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help!
