Student Verification Issue

Hello! I am a University of Waterloo student and I am having a hard time renewing my student verification despite submitting various documents multiple times. I believe it is because I am currently on a program-required work term, so the documentation presents me as a part-time (I am enrolled into a Co-op related online course) / unenrolled student. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey @alyannafuentes, thanks for reaching out, and sorry you've had to go through this more than once!

Verification for the Education plan is handled entirely by our partner, SheerID, and their system checks your documentation against a fairly standard "actively enrolled" pattern. One common reason cases like this get flagged is when a Proof of Enrollment letter reads as part-time or "on leave" during a work term without also confirming active enrollment, though only SheerID can tell you the exact reason behind your specific submission.

A couple of things worth double-checking before you resubmit again:

  1. Your documentation includes your full name, University of Waterloo's name, and your current term dates.
  2. It's not a course syllabus (those aren't accepted), an unofficial transcript, student ID with term dates, or an official enrollment letter tends to work best.
  3. If your letter frames the co-op term as a leave or part-time status, it may help to ask your registrar for a version that explicitly confirms you're actively enrolled during your co-op placement.

Since you've already resubmitted a few times, I'd skip trying again through the regular flow and go straight to SheerID's Figma-specific support team at figmasupport@sheerid.com. They own the full verification process and can take a real look at your specific case. Figma Support doesn't have visibility into SheerID's review or the ability to approve documents ourselves.

You can find more on the process overall in our Figma for Education guide.

Hope this gets sorted quickly, let me know how it goes!

I can understand the frustration, especially when you’re on a required co-op work term and your enrollment status looks different from a regular full-time student. It might help to provide a letter or official document from Waterloo confirming that the work term is part of your program and explaining your current enrollment status. Hopefully, the verification team can review it manually.

I believe my Proof of Enrollment letter indicates that, so I am not sure why it isn’t being verified :(
