Simple formatting not working

Are you selected on a layer within your component variant, or the parent frame of the variant? I suspect the reason you aren’t seeing certain styling applied is because of that, which can definitely create a confusing experience for you. In the layers panel, try selecting the rectangle layer within the variant and changing your styling on that. You could also hide the fill on the child rectangle layer - this is likely covering up the fill of the parent frame layer. Let me know if you still have trouble and we’ll go from there!
