Hi everyone,

I’m facing a frustrating issue: multiple Shift-related shortcuts have stopped working in Figma on my desktop.

Here are the specific shortcuts that are broken for me:

  • Shift + left click (not working)

  • Ctrl + Shift + R (now is selecting the text like was ENTER before)

  • Shift + Enter (now is renaming the layer for some reason)

  • Ctrl + Shift + < (not working)

For context:

  • I have already tried clearing the Figma desktop app cache.

  • The shortcuts are failing across multiple keyboards.

  • I also tried using it on the browser, but I encountered the same issue.

  • I am looking for a working solution or workaround since this severely impacts my workflow.

If anyone has experienced this or knows a fix, please let me know. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi @Douglas Simão, thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how this must be impacting your workflow. I tested this in my own files, and Shift-related shortcuts are still working as expected on my end. To help us investigate further, could you share:

  1. What OS and OS keyboard layouts you're using (e.g., Windows 11, US English, etc.)?
  2. Whether you've set up any custom keyboard shortcuts in Figma, or have other apps running that might intercept these key combos (some system/utility apps grab Shift-based shortcuts)?
  3. Does this happen in every file or only certain files?

In the meantime, two quick things to try:

  • Check Figma's keyboard layout setting (Settings → General); sometimes it's set to a different layout than your OS, which can cause exactly this kind of mismatch.
  • Try a fully different browser (or incognito) to rule out an extension interfering.

Let us know, and we can continue troubleshooting this together.
