Semantic Common extend collection not showing up

Hello, 
My org uses PrimeOne components, the out- of -the- box token structure is…

  • Primitive
  • Semantic Common
  • Semantic Color Scheme (light/ dark) 
  • Component Common
  • Component Color Scheme (light /dark)

The org has two separate products that operate on 2 set of design system, which I want to consolidate into one master DS and leverage tokenization/ nested collection for different brand styling. 
Thinking Semantic Common could be the first collection that start to separate brand value through newly added nested collection

  • Semantic Common (Parent)
    ├─ Brand 1 (Extended)
    └─ Brand 2 (Extended)

However, the issue is these Extended collection is not cascading down (Not showing up in libraries). It is suppose to show up under Semantic Color Scheme Collection. 
Since the values from Semantic Common collection is simply not showing up, so I cannot choose the correct value. I have set the scope to “show in all supported properties”, unchecked “hide from publishing”, reload the file several time. 
It still will not show up in Semantic Color Scheme, could someone shed light on this? thank you!!

    Hey ​@Wangwangwang, welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for raising this!

    Appreciate the detail on your token structure — that helps. I took a closer look at what you've laid out, and I have a couple of suggestions plus two questions that'll help us pin this down.

    First, one thing about extended collections worth knowing up front, because it changes what you might expect to see. An extended collection inherits its variables from the parent. It doesn't create new ones of its own. What it stores are overrides: theme-specific values for the parent's variables. That's also why variables and modes can't be added from an extended collection. More detail here: Extend a variable collection.

    With that in mind, two things to check:

    • How the brand gets applied. Both workflows in that article finish by having you apply variable modes to your designs using the new extended collection, so it's worth confirming that's how Brand 1 and Brand 2 are being applied. Modes are set on a layer or page from the right sidebar. For steps on how to do this: Modes for variables.
    • Whether your modes need reapplying. Accepting library updates after an extended collection change clears variable modes previously set on your designs, so they have to be set again.

    Beyond that, two questions to give me a better understanding of how your file is set up:

    1. When you say you can't choose the correct value — where are you trying to choose it? Setting a variable's value inside Semantic Color Scheme, applying a variable to a layer, or somewhere else?
    2. Are Semantic Common and Semantic Color Scheme in the same file, or separate library files?

    A screenshot or short recording of what you're seeing would tell me more than either, if that's easy to grab.
