School locked me out of my old account. Can I transfer files to my alt?

Hello,

I’ve recently run into an unfortunate situation - I was away from my computer for around a week and was logged out of both of my Figma accounts, with my main account being tethered to my high school Google Account. Unfortunately, the school has recently put a system in place locking us out of apps they don’t have on a whitelist. This means that, even though I've had the account since 2022, I can no longer log back in.

I do have an alternate account that I use already, and I was wondering if it’s possible to have all of my files transferred over to it? If so, that would be a huge help, as many branding and UI assets I’ve developed over the years would be lost otherwise.

For anyone willing to help, thank you in advance.

Hi @DConYT — welcome to Figma Forum, and sorry to hear about the trouble accessing your account.

Since the school email is locked down on their end, our Product Support team can help with assigning an alternate email address to your account — though they'll need to verify some details first. I've opened a ticket on your behalf and your case number is: 1851805. They'll follow up at the email tied to your alternate account.

Once you've regained access, you can move your files over: Move a file → Move a file between Figma accounts or organizations.

And for down the road, this is a good one to bookmark if your login info ever needs to change again: Manage email address or password.

I’m on the free plan, so I’m not able to transfer anything between accounts, but otherwise thank you. I think I have also figured out an alternative login method that will let me access the account. I’ll be sure to edit the details on that one! Again, thanks!
