After updating my Figma desktop app to the latest release, the Scale tool (K) stopped working completely. It's grayed out even when I have objects selected. I'm also noticing a few other odd behaviors with this update. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, or is it just me?

Hi @Uncut Lab, thanks for reaching out!

I just tested the Scale tool (K) shortcut myself, and it's activating the scale tool and working as expected on my end, so this doesn't look like a widespread issue with the update itself. That said, I don't want to dismiss what you're seeing, so let's dig in together. A few things that'll help us reproduce the issue:

  1. What type of object(s) are you selecting when the tool stays grayed out (e.g., frame, group, component, text, image)? A couple of selection types are intentionally non-scalable, so I want to rule that out first.
  2. What's your OS and exact Figma desktop app version (Help → About Figma)?
  3. Could you share a quick screen recording or screenshot showing the grayed-out state?
  4. You mentioned a few other odd behaviors since updating. What else are you noticing? That context might point us to what's actually going on.

If this turns out to be something specific to your file, account, or machine, we'll help get this sorted.

  1. Frame, images, and texts. Practically everything.
  2. Tahoe 26.4.1 and Figma Desktop App version 126.6.12
  3.
  4. I restarted the app, and it’s working well.

  5. NOTE: The Scale (K) works on the web app. The issue is only with the desktop version.
  6. Below is the same thing on the web app

Hi @Uncut Lab, thanks for the additional context!

This definitely points to a one-off stale state in the desktop app, rather than a bug with the Scale tool itself. Since it’s working fine in the web browser, plus the restart fixing it on the desktop app; both line up with that.

Glad to hear it’s working after a restart! If this issue does comes back, a restart is the first thing to try, and if it does resurface (or those other odd behaviors show up again), just drop a recording here, and we'll have the team investigate further.
