After a couple of versions, the option to “restore this version” is not even showing while clicking the donut menu in Figma make. the only change made on the file is moving it inside a project. a local copy downloaded and re-imported but same issue.

Hey @BayanMA, and anyone following this thread — quick update: Our Engineering team has deployed a fix for this issue.

One important note: If you're still seeing missing content, chat history, or version history in your file, please open a ticket with our Technical Quality team so we can take a deeper look and arrange next steps.

You can do this via the Support Hub → click Start a chat → type "Report a bug", and include your impacted file by sharing it with support-share@figma.com with view access. This lets us reproduce and investigate.

Thanks for your report, and for your patience while we worked on a resolution.

👋🏻 Hey @BayanMA, welcome to the Figma Forum and thanks for flagging this.

I tried to reproduce what you're describing and was still able to see the "Restore this version" option in my own test file, so I'd love to narrow down what's different on your end. A few things that'll help:

  1. Can you confirm your access level on it is Can edit? Only editors can restore versions. Viewers can browse history but won't see the restore option. More details here: View a file's version history.
  2. Fully quit and reopen Figma (or refresh in the browser) so you're on the latest release, then check the version history and try again. If you're on the Figma Desktop App, please confirm there are no pending updates.
  3. Is this happening across all your Make files, or just this one? If others in the project are affected too, let me know.
  4. When you click a previous version, does anything happen at all (e.g. a flash on the screen, a loading state, an error message), or is it completely silent? If you can catch an Error ID/message, that'll help clarify a bit more.

If it's still missing after that, please let me know. This may line up with a version history issue the team has been working on, so I can pull in our Technical Quality team with your file details for a closer look. We’ll keep watch for your reply!

Hi @Tom Reem , Thank you for your reply.

To clarify the issue further:

I’m the owner of the file I’m facing this issue with. I have also tried quitting and refreshing Figma. The issue is happening only with this file. No error message showing, I have also tried to “preview the version” but it’s silent no refresh is happening, no page opening, nor any message is showing.

Appreciate your support.

Thanks

Thanks for confirming, @BayanMA — that's really helpful. Since your original post, we've had additional reports matching what you're describing, and our Engineering team is now actively investigating. We'll relay any updates here as soon as I have them.

In the meantime, I've opened a case with our Technical Quality team on your behalf. Your case number is: 2048175, and I sent you an email a few moments ago with next steps. To help them confirm whether your file is affected, could you share view access to support-share@figma.com for it so the team can take a closer look and track this issue?

Thanks again for your patience — we'll keep an eye out for your reply.

I’m also facing the same issue. I’m on the latest version, and have restarted the Figma application multiple times. Issues:

  • I’m not able to click on any on any past versions
  • I’m not able to preview any past versions
  • I’m not able to restore any past versions

The issue seems to start after version 427 on my project. Any higher version no longer has the preview or restore, but lower versions can preview and restore. So something happened between version 427 & 428

Hey @JCasJTP — thanks for the report, and for including the screenshot.

A fix for the underlying issue was already deployed by our Engineering team, but some files affected before then can still need a manual restore. Since you're on the latest version and still seeing this, that looks like what's happening on your file.

I've opened a case with our Technical Quality team so they can take a closer look at your file and the next steps. Please check your inbox for an email from me tied to your case number: 2053719 — it has everything the team needs from you to move this forward.

Appreciate your collaboration as we get this sorted out. 🙏🏻
