I’m facing two challenging issues with the Replace Content feature:
In a table column, when I insert a cell and duplicate it across other cells in the same column, after pressing the Replace Content option, it not only changes the name but also adds an empty link to it.
My problem is: why does it add an empty link? I just want it to place text, not link everything to blank pages.
When I duplicate a cell into other cells of a column and ask it to rename them, sometimes it behaves poorly and makes only very minor changes. Even though I specifically ask it to fully change the text, it doesn’t seem to understand and does its own thing.
Thanks.

Hi @Javad_Saberi, thank you for sharing these details! I want to make sure I fully understand what’s happening so I can help investigate both issues. From your description alone, it’s a bit tricky to picture exactly what’s going on. Would you be able to share a short screen recording so I can see the behaviour directly and try to reproduce this on my end. That would give me the context I need to look into this properly.
Thank you for your help!
@Gayani_S I don’t need it to link anywhere else at all. I just want it to generate content for me, that’s it!
Another issue is that when I duplicate the ‘javad saberi’ cell and click ‘replace content’, the next cell also puts ‘javad saberi’ again, whereas it should generate new content.
Thanks for the screenshots and additional context, @Javad_Saberi!
Gayani is currently out of the office, so I’m sending this over to our AI team now.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while they investigate why this is happening for you.
ُThank you @djv
You’re welcome, @Javad_Saberi!
The team is a bit confused about your second set of screenshots. Do your original text nodes have URL links applied to them at all before attempting to Replace content? And to clarify, is this all happening in Figma? It almost looks like this is in FigJam, but Replace content shouldn’t be available in FigJam.
Hello @djv The issue I mentioned isn’t unclear. In Figma, when I duplicate a simple text layer that doesn’t have any links, after the AI changes it to new content, it automatically adds a link to it! You just need to fix this so that the AI doesn’t add any links to the new text. Just keep it as plain text. Thanks.
Thanks for clarifying, @Javad_Saberi!
This is definitely not expected behavior. Using replace content should not be adding text links.
How did you create the text layers in your screenshot? Did you by any chance copy and paste or duplicate them from another file? Is this happening in all of your files or just this file in particular?
Honestly, I don’t know which part of my explanation was unclear to you that made this ticket so long. I didn’t copy any text from anywhere. Please watch the video carefully one more time. I typed a simple piece of text, and for the other cells I want the AI to come up with other headings — that’s it! No links.
Hi @Javad_Saberi,
Just to clarify, there is no video. We’re only assuming the steps you may or may not have taken based on the screenshot you provided.
Thank you for clarifying that you created your original text and did not copy from any other source. There is absolutely no reason why the links should have been generated; it is not expected behavior. When we use Replace content in Figma, it does not create links for anyone.
In order to figure out why this is happening for you, we need to reproduce the issue, which the team hasn’t been able to successfully do yet. Again, if you’re able to share your file with us, our AI team can take a closer look at what may be happening on the backend: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Video Attached @djv
@djv hello, were you able to watch the video?
@djv ’ hello, were you able to watch the video?
Hey @Javad_Saberi, sorry for the delayed reply!
I’ve been out of the office since last Wednesday, 10/15. We just took a look at the video and tried to reproduce from what we could see, but the team still isn’t able to consistently reproduce the issue unless the text node being duplicated already has a link attached to it.
Since we’re not able to reproduce it when the text node is not a link, without seeing your actual actual file, there’s not much more our team can do to work towards a fix. Replace content was not built to add links to text nodes, if/when the original text node does not have a link attached to it.
Again, if you’re able to share your file with us, so our AI team can take a closer look at your layers and what may be happening on the backend, we’d appreciate it: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hello @djv Unfortunately, I’m not able to share the file, but it’s nothing special. Based on my tests, when there’s an empty text field in a cell, replacing the content works fine — it just generates other non-linked text nodes. However, when there are multiple components inside a single cell, the AI mistakenly generates the new text nodes as if they contain links. This behavior is clearly visible in the video I shared. Please forward this to the AI team for further review. Thank you.
Thanks for the additional context, @Javad_Saberi!
The team did see what was happening in the video. They just haven’t been able to reproduce it. Thank you for clarifying that it is specifically happening with multiple components inside a single cell. I’ve passed this specific detail onto the team for further review.
