+1 i cant use the product at all! this is extremely frustrating
I’m suddenly unable to edit any text layers in Figma, across all files, pages, and even brand new files—affecting both my main and secondary accounts.
What’s happening:
-
Double-click and “Enter” don’t let me edit text—not in place, not in the side panel.
-
Typography controls (font, size, etc.) are greyed out for every text layer I select.
-
I can move/resize elements, change color, and create new shapes just fine.
-
This started suddenly, across both Figma browser and desktop app.
What I’ve already tried:
-
Checked layer is NOT locked, not a component, and not a nested/grouped selection.
-
Checked on different pages, old files, new files—issue persists everywhere.
-
Created a totally new Figma file—still can’t edit any text, not even “Inter” font.
-
Swapped between browser (Chrome/Incognito) and the desktop app.
-
Logged out/in, refreshed, cleared cache/cookies, no effect.
-
No issues with account permissions (“can edit” everywhere), and not a FigJam file.
-
No overlays, masks, or hidden layers blocking interaction.
This is literally blocking our workflow and is reproducible on multiple machines and networks. Seems like a recent Figma bug or server regression?
Can anyone else confirm/replicate, or offer a workaround?
Any response from the Figma team on a fix?
Thanks,
Djah Andrews

I meet similar disagreament as I told in this topic :
I specify, I already try all the “What I’ve already tried:” listed in previous answers.
All the problems of resizing or editing seems to turn around text layers behavior after last update.
All my Master components libraries gets some strange update requests about legacy component I never edit since Figma’s update. These components wrap children instances of components which use text layers. And even if I try to rebuilt properly the component with replacing legacy children instances by new one and then publish the changes, when I reopen the file or restart/reset Figma, the component reappears inside the publishing list.
It is look like fixes are useless.
@Thomas_Marget1
Unfortunately, I have not received any feedback from the team.
P.S. Three files related to my two main projects have been ruined. They are completely unusable. Nothing works in any way, and the worst thing is that even if I recalculate it manually/unlink it/create a new element, it gets displaced. At times, even the grid/colors and fonts from the styles don't work, something I didn't think was possible.
If no solution is found, I will have to start everything from scratch.
@Irina Spasova I am so sorry for you.
For me, for the moment, I just can not publishing any new modifications to my components set on my whole projects, it is not broken, but it very problematic too. It means, I can forget my customers evolutions requests for now.
I strongly hope that regression will be patched for next update.
@Thomas_Marget1 ,
It's working for me right now! I hope they fixed it for you too!
P.S. Apparently Google and GPT chat had to crash for things to happen.
