Refund Request – Annual Charge for Unused Dev Seat

Hello,

I am writing to request a refund for an annual charge on a dev seat that I did not intend to renew.

Before my subscription renewed on August 4th, I went into Team Settings to cancel the dev seat. However, I could not find any option to cancel the annual billing — the only available option was to downgrade to the Starter plan. As a result, I was unable to cancel in time, and the annual charge went through without my consent.

If this charge is not refunded, I will file a complaint with the Korea Consumer Agency (한국소비자원) and pursue the matter with Figma through legal counsel if necessary.

I am requesting a full refund of the $144 charged under what I consider a deceptive dark-pattern billing flow that gave users no clear way to cancel. Please open a support ticket for this issue and let me know the next steps for processing the refund.

Inquiry details:

  • Date/Time: August 4, 2026, 6:30 PM (KST)
  • Email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Best regards,
Junhyuk (준혁)

Hey @octaveltd , Celine from the Figma Community Support team here.

Thanks for reaching out. I took a look and can see that you've already contacted our Support team, thanks for doing that.

I can also see that our support team has already replied with a detailed breakdown of your request and the renewal. Please check your inbox and continue the conversation directly through your existing support case, as they'll be best equipped to review your account-specific billing request.

For your information here, and for others who may come across this thread, I'd like to clarify how annual seat commitments work on the Professional plan:

  • For annual Professional plans, seat commitments remain in place for the duration of the billing term and need to be adjusted during the 30-day renewal window.
  • During this period, you'll see a Review seats banner, or you can go to Admin → Billing to reduce the number of committed seats for the next annual billing cycle.
  • If you'd like to prevent the subscription from renewing altogether, you'll need to cancel the plan before the renewal date by navigating to Admin → Billing → Cancel plan. Otherwise, the plan will renew based on the committed annual seat count, even if some of those seats are unassigned.

I hope this helps clarify why the renewal occurred, and I'm sorry for any confusion the renewal process may have caused.

You can also find more information in this Help Center article: Adjust number of seats at renewal.

Since your request is already being handled through your existing support case, I'll go ahead and close this thread here. Thanks!
