Refund for AI credits

Hi, I have successfully been using Figma Make to build a website, however have recently experienced problems with feeding a prompt and Make crashed mid way through the prompt. However, it still uses my AI balance. I have tried the same prompt twice and it has used a substantial amount of credits.

 

Please can I get a refund on the credits?

That credit breakdown is genuinely helpful. Just to make sure I'm reading it right: you started at 3,000 credits, the hover total shows 604 credits across your completed prompts, but your balance dropped to 1,658. So there's about 738 credits not accounted for by what's visible per prompt.

A couple of things that are probably related:

  • Credits are consumed based on the work Figma Make performs, even if a prompt doesn't finish loading or the file reverts to an earlier version, since changes may already have been made before the crash.
  • The per-prompt total only appears once a prompt fully completes, so your two crashed attempts may not show up as line items when you hover over the credits icon, even though they used credits. You can read more on this in How AI credits work.

I've gone ahead and opened Ticket #2078361 with everything you've shared so far. One thing we're still missing though: a URL link to your Make file, shared with Can view access to support-share@figma.com. Could you add that as a reply on the ticket? That's the one piece that lets the team actually open the file and confirm what happened.

In the meantime, the two options from earlier still work if you want to keep building without using more credits: restoring an earlier version via the file menu → Show version history, or copying your Make preview into a Figma Design file to continue there.

I completely understand your frustration. Please know that if a prompt fully fails and no work is performed, credits aren't deducted. Since credits were deducted, it sounds like Make made changes to your code or file before it crashed. If this was the case, credits are consumed even when the preview doesn't load. Credits are based on the work the model performs, not on whether you get a usable result. To figure out which happened here, could you share:

  • A URL link to your Make file (Share Can view access with support-share@figma.com)
  • Roughly when the crashes happened (date and time, with your timezone)
  • The exact error message you saw
  • Whether a new version was created after each attempt, or the chat reverted

You can also hover the AI credits icon beneath each response to see the exact cost per prompt, which helps pin down the two attempts. In the meantime, two ways to keep moving without spending more credits: open the file menu → Show version history to restore an earlier version, or copy your Make preview into a Figma Design file and edit there. Shared view access

Crash happened yesterday afternoon brought 5pm BST

Error message: I’m using Figma desktop on Mac. I can’t recall the exact message however it was a pop up in Figma Make advising Figma had crashed, I could reload or quit I think. I reloaded

A new version was not created, the chat area reverted back to the last version. But as I say, AI credits were still consumed

​@djv just looked at the AI spend using the hover over each prompt. I started yesterday with a balance of 3000, spent 604 using the various prompts, but my current balance now shows 1658
