Recovering a missing Figma file

Dear Figma Support Team,

I’m reaching out because one of my Figma design files has suddenly gone missing from my account, and I would like to request your assistance in recovering it.

I did not delete or intentionally remove this file. I only noticed the issue just now when I tried to open the design file. I have checked both Figma through the website and the Figma app, but I’m unable to find or access the file. I also checked the Trash, but the file is not there.

The details are as follows:

  • Number of missing files: 1
  • File name: Club D'Elite Spa
  • Plan: Free
  • Owner: Same account
  • Last accessed: Yesterday
  • Issue: File is suddenly missing and cannot be found through Figma website or app. It is also not in the Trash.

This file contains important project work, so I would really appreciate it if you could check whether the file can be recovered or restored from your end.

Please let me know if you need any additional information, such as my account details, file link, screenshots, or any other information to help investigate the issue.

Hey ​@Forke Studio, I'm stepping in on behalf of ​@ksn to help here.

Only a team admin can restore a deleted team. They do it with the Restore team link in the confirmation email Figma sends to whoever deleted the team. I can't say for certain how this works if that email address or account no longer exists, so I don't want to give you a firm answer either way here.

Admins have 28 days from deletion to restore a team, and after that the team's files and folders are permanently deleted. Since the team was deleted on September 29, that window closes around late October, so it's worth acting soon. 

Because this involves account-level details, the best next step is to reach out to our Customer Support team through the Support hub so our team can look into your specific case privately. Please include the team name and the email address of the admin who deleted the team.

Hey ​@Forke Studio - thank you for your patience while I looked into this.

First, it looks like the file was deleted, because the team it was housed under was deleted. This happened on September 29.

In order to restore the file, you’ll need to restore the team. Please see instructions on how to do this here.

Note: the admins of that team will be the only users who will be able to do this.

Hi, thank you for your reply. If the email that was used as the admins of the team got deleted, will we still be able to restore the file?
