Hello!

I deleted an old account to account for new things, but now when I want to sign in with the same email, it keeps saying “request failed”. I am wondering why this is so and when will be an appropriate time to sign up a new account and get the verification to go through.

Honestly, if it takes longer than 5 hours, I would rather recover my old deleted account since I have to meet a student deadline soon. I hope someone from FIgma can come across this

Hey @shrne, thanks for reaching out!

Once an account is deleted, it can’t be recovered or restored. The good news is that you should be able to create a new account using the same email address.

Can you please try creating your account using:

  • Open an incognito/private browsing window
  • Try a different browser
  • Switch internet connections (mobile data)
  • Disable any VPNs or browser extensions

You can follow the steps here to create a new account:https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039811114-Create-a-Figma-account

If you’re still blocked after trying those, I can help get this escalated to our support team so they can take a closer look, especially given your deadline. Please let me know how it goes!

I accidentally deleted my account 6 hours ago and I'm trying to create another one with the email I accidentally deleted, but I keep getting a "failed request" message... Do I have to wait longer? I've already tried searching in incognito mode and on another browser...

Hey @Dian ann, thanks for reaching out and for already trying the troubleshooting steps from my previous reply!

You should normally be able to create a new account with the same email. I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf so the team can take a closer look at what’s causing the “failed request” error.

Your ticket number is #1866009, for reference. Someone from the team should be in touch with you soon, really appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Same problem here, since yesterday. I can’t create a new account using the email of an account that I deleted earlier.

@Gayani_S is there any way to track the status of the ticket #1866009 you opened ?

Hey @Flvn, I can see your ticket (#1866009) hasn’t been picked up just yet, but I’ve escalated it internally to help get it prioritised. You should hear back from the support team soon with an update. Appreciate your patience while they take a closer look!

Hey everyone, this post is for anyone coming across this issue when trying to re-register with the same email after deleting their account and seeing a “request failed” error.

We generally recommend waiting up to 24 hours before trying again, as it can take a bit of time for everything to fully process on the backend.

If you’re still seeing the issue after that, here are a few things worth trying:

  • Use an incognito/private window
  • Try a different browser
  • Switch networks (e.g. mobile data)
  • Disable any VPNs or extensions

You can also check out this guide for creating an account: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039811114-Create-a-Figma-account

If it’s still not working after trying the above, please reach out via our support hub so the team can take a closer look.

Hi @Nadya Nisa, Celyn from the Figma Community Support team here.

Thanks for reaching out. As @Gayani_S mentioned above, when an account has been recently deleted, it can take a little time for that change to fully process on our end.

At the moment, there isn't a way to bypass the 24-hour processing period, so I'd recommend trying again after 24 hours. That usually gives enough time for everything to clear, and you should then be able to reuse the same email address.

If you're still unable to create the account after 24 hours, please submit a bug report through the Support Hub by following these steps:

Support Hub → Start a chat → Type "Report a bug, cannot create account" → Press Enter and follow the prompts.

When you submit the report, please also include the email address you're trying to use so the team can take a closer look.

Thanks for your patience, and I hope you're able to get back up and running soon!
