Question about unexpected $5 charge

Arina Iero

Hi Figma Support,

I recently made a change to my seat type, and now I see a $5 billing adjustment on my upcoming invoice — but I'm not sure what exactly I'm being charged for.

Could you please clarify what this charge covers? If it's a prorated fee for the seat change, I'd really appreciate it if you could waive it, as I didn't intend to incur any additional costs.

Thank you!

Hey Arina, thanks for reaching out! 🙂 The $5 billing adjustment is most likely a prorated charge related to your recent seat type change. When you make changes to your seat mid-billing cycle, Figma automatically calculates a prorated amount based on the remaining days in your billing period. You can find more details here: There are additional charges in my Figma bill.

Since I'm not able to verify or adjust billing details here on the Forum, our support team is best equipped to look into this for you. I can see your ticket and have added a follow-up note to increase visibility. The team will take a closer look and get back to you directly as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience! 🙏

It looks like in your case, the charge resulted from a self-upgrade: since you purchased a Dev seat and then edited a design file, you would have been prompted inside the file to approve the upgrade before being able to make edits.

As a reminder, some seat changes can have an immediate impact on your subscription and will be reflected on your upcoming invoice. You can read more about seat changes and billing in our Help Center:

I'll go ahead and close this thread here. If you have any further questions about your billing, feel free to continue the conversation directly via your support case, thank you 🙏
