Question About Changing Payment Method and Community Purchases

Hello Figma Support Team,

 

We would like to update the payment method associated with our Figma account and have a question regarding previous purchase attempts.

 

Recently, we attempted to purchase a plugin through the Figma Community, but the transaction failed because the payment was processed using an outdated card that is no longer valid.

 

Before updating our payment method, we would like to understand whether changing the payment details will have any impact on this failed purchase attempt. Specifically:

 

Will the purchase automatically be retried once the payment method is updated?

Do we need to manually repurchase the plugin after updating the card information?

Is there anything else we should be aware of regarding pending or failed Community transactions when changing the payment method?

 

We would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Hey, ​@Elizabeth Strekalova 👋 Thanks for the great question. I took this to my team and got us some more information.

Here are the details:

  • If the Stripe transaction shows “cancelled payment”, it will not retry as it is in a cancelled state (Your situation)
  • If the Stripe transaction shows “failed and retrying” it will retry upon update (Not your situation)

Here are the details:

  • If the Stripe transaction shows “cancelled payment”, it will not retry as it is in a cancelled state (Your situation)
