I'm trying to publish my website but this error keeps returning:

For those with the same problem: I just restored the previous version before the bug occurred, then I was able to publish again.

Hi @isadorable, thanks for flagging this!

Happy to hear you were able to restore the previous version then publish. Please let us know if you run into any further issues.

Hi @dvaliao I am having a similar issue where it was working fine but now I am getting “Update attempt was unsuccessful”. There are no issues to review and I have a full seat as an individual user.

I tried to restore but it still didn’t work. Can you please help? I have a portfolio presentation tomorrow!

Hi @Helen Shek, thanks for reaching out!

Can you please send your file link to our support team here? https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Our team can take a look at the backend of Sites to find what’s causing this for you.

@dvaliao will do! Will it be under “report a bug”?

@Helen Shek - yes, report a bug.

I have the same problem and I sent also a request to solve my problem. Thank you very much for your help!

Hii @djv I have tried publishing my website in Figma Sites for the fourth time, every time I’m getting the same error message. I have cleared all the issues. Please help me to get this issue fixed. I need the website published. Please help asap!. I have also given access to your support team in figma to view my file

Hi everyone — Tom here, stepping in for @djv this weekend. I wanted to check in after seeing the reports come through on this thread.

@mihee and @Orli — thank you for reaching out to our Product Support team directly as well. While I can’t share account-specific details here, I can confirm your cases are in good hands. The team will follow up at the email address you contacted them from once they have more details to share. 💯

@Harsh Kharsani and @Daniel Moses — are you still running into this issue? If so, here are a few initial steps that may help:

✅ Check and resolve any items listed in the Issues section of the Publish modal. For more on this, check out: Publish, update, or unpublish a site → Publish a site → Issues.

⏳ Wait a few minutes and try publishing again.

📁 Move any unfinished pages into a separate file (recommended while in beta).

If you’ve tried these and are still hitting the same roadblock, it’d be helpful to loop in our Product Support team for a deeper look. When you reach out, please include:

  • the link to this forum thread for context
  • a summary of the steps leading up to the error
  • a link to the affected file
  • and make sure support-share@figma.com has edit access to the file.

Thanks again for flagging this and for your patience — feel free to keep us posted here on how things go! 🙏🏻

@Tom Reem. Thank you for pitching in. This issue is been solved by Ryan. Will let you know if I face it again.

@Daniel Moses we tried 2 things in this case :-

1. At the extreme left bottom if there is an icon button with (A?). That means you are using a font that is not a Google font and figma only supports Google font and not machine fonts.

2. If you are using any Video in the file make sure it is not more than 10,485,760 bytes.

In my case it was both custom font as well as had a video with more bytes.

I hope this helps you.

Glad to hear it — thanks for confirming, @Harsh Kharsani! I’ve gone ahead and marked your reply as the best answer to help others who might run into something similar. Great callouts on both the font and video file size — those are definitely good things to keep an eye on when publishing.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share back your findings here, and thanks again for your patience as we continue making improvements.

Hii @Tom Reem I tried the approach which you mentioned by removing the unused pages into a separate file and I applied Publish, but it is still not getting published and is showing error message. So i have reported a bug and have given your support team the editor access, so please look into that issue and try to close this quickly asap.

I thought I was going mad. I still have this issue pending with the support team @Tom Reem

No feedback for days now, and my site remains unpublished.
