My project is showing this error every time I try to publish. I tried going back to an older version that worked for new publications, but this error keeps persisting.

Got the same error and came here to find a solution.
So it might be a bigger issue then, although figma status does not recognize yet

The engineers have pushed out a fix for this. Just refresh Figma to make sure you're on the latest version.
