Question

Prototype video freezes on first frame with audio playing (macOS 26.6.x, all browsers)

Since this week (updated figma), video fills in prototypes freeze on the first frame while the audio track plays. Safari, Chrome, and the desktop app, on three separate Apple Silicon Macs running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, plus iOS. Same prototypes play normally on a Mac still on 26.3. Source files play fine as local mp4s (H.264). Disabling "hardware-accelerated video decode" in chrome://flags makes them play, so it looks like Figma's video stream vs Apple's decoder. 26.6.2 has been installed since Sep 1 and everything played until this week, so the change seems to be on Figma's side. Each frame is a single video fill, autoplay and loop on. Ticket #2147683 is in. Anyone else seeing this? (Possibly related to the Motion first-frame thread from June, though sounds different.)

I just started experiencing the same issue in several prototypes that include vid playback where it’s still on the 1st frame w/ audio playback, but seems to play as expected after interacting a 2nd time to trigger it to start

Yeah works for me when i go forward a page and then back - everything plays then, just bad when I’m sharing these with clients. Looks like they’re on it and able to replicate the same thing on the tech end. Hopefully will be resolved soon!

Yeah, that sounds like a weird playback bug. If the audio keeps playing but the video stays stuck on the first frame across different browsers,,it could be related to the newer macOS update. Hopefully Figma can reproduce it and figure out what’s causing it.

Hey everyone - I just wanted to hop in and provide an update before the weekend hit.

Our engineering team has been able to replicate, and are still working on a fix. I can’t guarantee a specific window, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated.

Thanks for the update. I’m always viewing on desktop but came across this bug with clients not being able to view on mobile. Kind of a big issue for us!
