Hello, I am working on some projects and whenever I try the prototype it freezes and the interactions are not working. No matter if I hide/unhide layers, clear figma cache, re-install figma, restart or update pc.

It has been like that all day. The only interactions I have is open overlay, while hovering, click.

Yesterday it was working properly.

The project is very complicated to change the interactions and test if something is causing that issue although I dont think that’s the case.

Does anyone face the same issue? Other users within the same project don’t have any issue.

Having the same issue, I tried a bunch of different projects and they are also freezing. When I switch to my Mac, they are working fine, it seems to be a PC thing. I also updated my video drivers and cleared cache on browsers, removed extensions etc.. etc.. The Figma desktop app also freezes on PC when trying to run a prototype.

To summarize, it’s happening for me on Chrome, Edge and the Figma app on PC, but no issues on Mac.

Other pc’s are working fine.  I also tested figma on browser but it does the same thing. Really weird.

I have the same issue. I’ve been struggling with Figma since this morning. It worked fine yesterday, but today, whenever I open the prototype preview, the CPU usage on my Mac spikes to over 191% in Activity Monitor.

I’m using macOS 15.6.1

The same thing happens in the desktop app (tested two versions), Chrome, Safari, and Brave

Clearing the cache or reinstalling doesn’t help, and I’ve tried launching it with different terminal options

The problem only occurs with interactions/prototypes

Why did you mark this as solved, it doesn’t seem like a solution to me.

Hey everyone! Thanks for flagging this.
It looks related to a bug our engineering team is currently investigating. We’d love to take a closer look, when you have a moment, please reach out to our technical quality team here: Submit a bug report
In the form, use your Figma email account, share the URL of the affected file, and grant “can edit” access so our team can investigate further. Thank you!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a workaround that finally got my prototypes unstuck after the freezing nightmare today. The issue was hitting me hard mid-interaction (clicks not responding, overlays hanging) in both the browser and desktop app.

What worked: I signed out of my account, then logged back in using one of my team member’s accounts. Boom—everything loaded smoothly, and interactions are back to normal. No more freezes!

If you’re dealing with the same glitch, give this a shot—it might be an account-specific hiccup. Fingers crossed Figma squashes this soon. Let me know if it helps you too!

Cheers,

Leonardo

Mine seems to be back to working now. No more crashes.

Hey everyone — good news! Confirming that our engineering team identified the root cause and released a fix, so things should now be running smoothly. ✅

💡 If you haven’t already, please refresh your browser or restart the Figma Desktop App to load the latest updates.

Appreciate your patience while this was being resolved, and glad to hear everything’s already back to normal on your end @Robert_Boyd1 and @Spentotal.
