Prototype Doesn't Load Navigation Bar When Sent To Others

I’m working through a UX Design online course, and I’m at a part where I created a usability test around the prototype I made in Figma. I sent out the links of the prototype to 5 people and the 3 that have gotten back to me said the navigation bar didn’t populate. On my end, in figma on my laptop or on my phone the navigation bar shows up for me. I’ve tried googling this issue and troubleshooting multiple possible solutions, but so far nothing has worked. Does anyone know how to fix this or what would cause part of the prototype to not show up with the link?

HI @Stop07,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please share a screenshot of the issue along with some additional details? I'm especially interested in understanding the differences between what you're experiencing and what others are seeing.

Thanks!
Toku

Yes, I’ll attach screenshots of different examples. I tried accessing the link from my phone as well as my laptop and even opened all the links I had sent out, they were all the same link, and every one populated the navigation bar for me. The couple of people that have gotten back to me don’t see the navigation pull up on their end. I thought maybe it was the browser they were using so had them try a different one and had them try using a computer/tablet if they were using their mobile phone and vice versa, but the issue persists.

This image is a screenshot of my laptop when I open my prototype link that had sent out to my testers.

This is a screenshot from my phone opening the same link I sent out to my testers.

This is a screenshot I grabbed from the video one of my testers sent back. The navigation bar is non-existent for them and there even appears to be just a blank white space toward the bottom where the nav bar should be.

This is another screenshot from a different tester, nav bar is also missing for them.

Hi @Stop07

Thanks for sharing the details! Do you happen to know if the navigation frame is set to "Fixed" when scrolling? You can check out this guide for more info: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039818734-Prototype-scroll-and-overflow-behavior#h_01HHN69W8T17A4A5T2EV7BGKEK

If it’s set to "Fixed," you should be able to see it at the fixed position even if the screen size is different. Could you double-check that setting?

If the issue persists, could you submit a bug report detailing the steps that led to this issue? You can do so by following the link: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041468234-Submit-a-bug-report

Thanks!

Hi @y_toku,

Yes, I’ve double checked every frame that has the navigation bar and they’re all set to a fixed position. I have submitted a bug report on this and am trying to get some further insight into this issue.

Thank you!

I might know what the problem is: it won’t show on the mobile web, but you can see it in the preview. If that’s the case, here’s a solution:

  • Extend the frame height to fit the entire prototype vertically.
  • Place your Nav Bar at the very bottom of the frame and set its Scroll Behavior to Fixed.
  • Set the Nav Bar’s Vertical Constraints to Bottom—this will keep it sticky at any viewport height.
  • In Prototype settings, select a device that matches your original frame size—this ensures proper preview display.

Best of luck
