There are a few things worth trying straight away:
Click Refresh preview at the top of the preview panel to see if any changes come through.
Refresh the page, then try your prompt again.
Duplicate the file and try prompting in the copy, if it works there.
If the responses feel inconsistent or the model isn't following instructions, try clearing your chat context. This resets the AI's memory for that file without losing your project. You can find the option in the chat panel.
Our Troubleshoot in Figma Make guide walks through all of these steps and covers the full list of error messages too.
To help me narrow down what's going on, a few questions:
Is this one specific file, or every Figma Make file you open?
Is this happening, in the desktop app, browser or both? If browser, which one?
Does the prompt still appear in the chat log after it stops, or does it vanish completely?
Does your file have any large video or media attachments? Files with heavy media can silently block prompting.
Are there any files in your project showing a warning symbol (⚠️) next to the filename? That indicates a file over the 1MB limit, which prevents the AI chat from working correctly.
Were you attaching any design frames to your prompts? If so, were they large or made up of many layers?
If none of the steps above help and the issue keeps happening, the best next step is to submit a bug report directly from the file. Click the ? icon in Figma Make, then follow the prompts. Include a short screen recording if you can, as that'll help the team see exactly what's happening.
Happy to dig in further once I hear back from you, just let me know what you find!
i’ve tried different browsers and also the app.can’t see any warning symbol next to file name. the prompt appears but no figma response. so all i see is all my unanswered prompts.
Hey @Adrian_, thanks for trying all of that and for the extra detail.
Since the issue is happening across browsers and the desktop app with no warning symbol on the file, this looks like something we need to dig into on our end. I've gone ahead and created a support ticket for you (Ticket #1934269) and escalated it to our engineering team to get it prioritised. No need for you to submit anything separately. I know you're working against a deadline tomorrow, so I want to make sure we're doing everything we can on our side right now.
One last thing worth trying in the meantime, clear your chat context in the Figma Make chat panel. This resets the AI's memory for that file without affecting your project, and can sometimes unblock a stuck session.
To help us investigate, could you reply to the email you received from us and include the URL of the impacted file? That'll give the team what they need to reproduce the issue and dig in with engineering.
