Hi,
I transferred a project from my personal Figma account to my school account, expecting to access the Education Plan features. However, the project is now behaving no differently than a personal project, and I’m trying to move it back to my personal account. Unfortunately, I keep encountering the error message shown above.

To clarify:

  • The top account is my personal account — it appears to still own the team and can edit the project.

  • The bottom account is my school account — listed as the project owner, but it can't transfer or manage the project. The project doesn’t even appear on the school account's home screen.

It seems I'm stuck in a loop where neither account has full control, and I urgently need to resolve this before my school account access expires.

Could you please help me regain proper ownership or provide a way to transfer the project back?

I understand you transferred a project from your personal account to your education account, and now you're having trouble transferring it back to your personal account.

 

Just so you know, as shown in this help center article, only admins can transfer projects. : Transfer a project or team to a different account

Could you please contact the admin of this project to see if they are able to transfer it to your personal account?

 

Alternatively, if your personal account is on the free Starter plan, you could consider transferring files between accounts by saving a copy of the file to your computer and then importing it into your personal account.
