Professional Full seat missing new UI3 left navigation

Hi Figma team,

I submitted a support case and would like to make sure this issue can be reviewed by the right team.

Support case number: 1941098

I’m on a Professional plan and I have a Full seat. My account already has the UI3 main interface enabled, as shown by the bottom floating toolbar.

However, I still don’t have access to the new left navigation bar and some recent UI3-related rollout features that other Full seat users can see.

I checked the Help menu, and there is no switch, opt-in, or “Use new UI” option available.

Could someone from Figma please help check whether my account or team has the correct rollout flags enabled?

Thank you.

Hey @Ethan Xie, thanks for reaching out!

We're slowly rolling out the new left navigation bar to users in Figma Design. You haven't missed a setting or done anything wrong. While the rollout is in progress, it's expected for different users on the same team to see different versions of the UI.

Here's what the new left navigation bar changes:

  • File, Assets, and Find move from the top panel area into the left navigation bar
  • Variables gets a new entry point in the left navigation bar, replacing its previous location in the properties panel
  • The left navigation bar is available in Figma Design, Draw mode, and Dev Mode

Unfortunately, it's not possible to manually opt in or enable it ahead of schedule. We don’t have a timeline to share right now, but we’ll update this thread as soon as we have more to share.

To learn more about how the new navigation bar works, including where everything has moved, you can check out Navigating UI3 in our Help Center.

I'll go ahead and close your support ticket (#1941098)out now, but don't hesitate to reply here if you have any more questions, I'm happy to help!

Hi Gayani,

Thank you for your reply and for explaining the rollout status.

However, I have to say that this is a disappointing experience, especially as a paying Figma user. I understand that product rollouts can happen gradually, but when different users on the same team have access to different versions of the UI and different feature entry points, it creates confusion and inconsistency in daily work.

From my perspective, paying users should be able to access the best and most up-to-date Figma experience, or at least have the option to opt in manually. Not being able to enable it, and not having a clear timeline, makes the experience feel unfair and difficult to plan around.

This also does not seem to be an individual case. Many people around me are experiencing the same issue, so I believe this is a broader user experience problem rather than just a personal inconvenience.

I hope the Figma team can consider one of the following improvements:

  1. Allow paid users to manually opt in to the new navigation experience.
  2. Provide a clearer rollout timeline.
  3. Make the experience more consistent for users within the same team or organization.

I appreciate the work your team is doing, but I sincerely hope Figma can handle this rollout in a way that better respects paying users and professional teams who rely on Figma every day.

Best,
Ethan

Hey Ethan, thanks for flagging this!

I hear you, having teammates on different versions of the same UI in a professional workflow can create real friction day to day. That's a completely fair thing to flag.

I'm passing this feedback on to the right people internally, I can't make promises on what gets changed or when, but I want you to know it won't just disappear into a void.

Thanks again for the care you put into sharing this with us!

Hi Gayani,

Thank you for understanding and for passing the feedback along internally. I appreciate that.

At the same time, I still hope the team can treat this as more than general feedback. For professional teams, UI consistency is not just a preference — it directly affects daily collaboration, onboarding, documentation, and team communication.

I understand you may not be able to promise a specific timeline, but it would be very helpful if Figma could provide more transparency around the rollout, such as:

  1. Whether paid users or teams will eventually have a manual opt-in option.
  2. Whether the rollout can be made consistent within the same team or organization.
  3. Whether there is any estimated rollout window, even if it is approximate.

Right now, the uncertainty makes it difficult for teams to plan workflows and support each other. Since many paid users rely on Figma in production environments every day, I hope this issue can be considered a real product experience concern rather than just an individual preference.

Thanks again for listening, and I hope this feedback can be escalated to the relevant product team.

Best,
Ethan

Hey @Ethan Xie , thanks for following up again and apologies for the delayed response!

I want to be honest with you about where things stand. We're slowly rolling out the new left navigation bar to users in Figma Design, and right now we don't have a specific date or timeline we can share for when it'll reach everyone. I know that makes planning harder, and I get why that's frustrating.

On your three asks:

  1. Manual opt-in, this isn't something we're able to offer right now.
  2. Team-level consistency, while the rollout is in progress, it's expected for teammates to see different versions of the UI.
  3. Clearer timeline, we don't have a date we can share at this point. But I’ll share this feedback with the team internally.

Unfortunately, I can't give you more concrete answers on any of these right now. But your feedback is clear and makes a lot of sense, and I'll make sure to share it with the team internally.
