show Figma UI + sharing link toast


I am 95% sure that you used to be able to click the left side of the toast shown when you hid the Figma UI in a prototype in order to dismiss that toast immediately. Within the last few months it changed so if you hover the cursor over that area you get a text tool and clicking allows you to select that text (why would I want to do that?).


The toast hangs out on screen for ten whole seconds before going away. I’ll often have to do a series of screen recordings of separate prototypes and having to repeatedly wait for that toast to dismiss gets old in a hurry.


At the very least being able to select text elements of the Figma UI is a bug.

I don’t think this is sharing a new idea, since it appears to be a regression. Being able to select the label text of the toast is definitely a bug.


Other toasts that display for less time (like Show/Hide Outlines in the editor) can be clicked to dismiss them immediately. I would expect the toast for hiding the UI in a prototype to function the same way.

I’ve tested it on my end, and it does seem to behave as expected by disappearing after a few seconds. However, I completely understand your concern about it lingering too long and not being dismissible, especially when compared to others like Show/Hide Outlines.


I’ve already shared your feedback with our team internally, but I’ll follow up again to double-check if this might be a potential bug or something that can be improved.

Also as an aside to anyone who comes across this thread: Clicking “Copy sharing link” does dismiss the toast immediately, so if you’re ok with overwriting your clipboard, it’s a viable workaround.
