Pprototyping issues

I’ve experienced intermittent, very slow loading on mobile and desktop. From files to prototypes. The prototypes are the worst. If I try to load prototypes on desktop it takes a while then prevents the changes on the file from saving. I get the “this file has unsaved changes” and can’t get updates to the prototype on the desktop or mobile. After a few minutes it will eventually save and update the prototype. This occurs probably every 15-20 minutes.

On mobile: files take forever to load. Then when they finally do the prototypes take longer then interactions won’t work. They crash the prototype saying that the issues is being looked at by the team.

This is a recent phenomenon. Since the addition of agents.

I've tried clearing the system cache on desktop and reinstalling the app on mobile to no avail.

Hey @Kent Wilson, thanks for reaching out!

A few things worth trying first, since these resolve most performance issues:

  1. Close any other Figma tabs you have open, then force-quit and reopen Figma in a new browser window (or fully restart the desktop app).
  2. Try opening the same prototype in an incognito/private browser window, just to rule out extensions interfering.
  3. On mobile, beyond reinstalling, try switching between WiFi and cellular data to see if it's connection-related — unstable connections can cause exactly this kind of stuck-loading and delayed-save behavior.
  4. If the file has a lot of pages, high-res images, or complex nested components, that can also slow down loading and saving — worth checking your memory usage indicator in the file (View > Memory usage) if you haven't already.

Since you've already tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, I'd like to take a closer look at what's actually happening in your specific file. I've created a support ticket on your behalf (Ticket #2014832) so we can dig into the account-specific details, that's not something I can investigate here on the forum for security reasons. If you're able please follow up on the email and share the file with support-share@figma.com (set to "Can view" access),

You can find more general troubleshooting steps in our Troubleshooting checklist as well.

Let me know how the quick fixes go, and I'll get that ticket started once I hear from you!
