Poppins Font Issue in Figma Sites (Preview/Play Mode Bug)

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing all these details! I can see how this would be confusing with the Poppins font not displaying correctly in preview.

I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on my end, so I’d recommend submitting a bug report. Our technical team can take a closer look. In the form, it would be helpful to include:

• A link to the affected Figma Site (with ‘edit access’ granted to support-share@figma.com. This won’t affect your billing)

• A short screen recording or screenshots showing the issue like these ones you shared here.

• A description of any recent changes you might’ve made to the project

I've been using the Poppins font in my Figma Sites design, and everything worked perfectly for weeks. However, after logging in today, the font suddenly appears incorrect in preview or play/test mode, it looks like it’s being replaced by a different font or weight.

This only happens in preview mode, not in the design view. Poppins is a Google Font, so I assume it should still be fully supported and available.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know how to resolve it or whether this is a recent bug in Figma Sites?

In the meantime, does someone know why the projects text also dissapears in the play/test mode? I had a similar problem with teeth not appearing, while all was fine in the design fase.

On the fonts drop-down menu, I think you should select Poppins from the Google fonts, rather than from “Installed by me”, that should solve things.

Just sharing an update here for visibility in case others run into a similar issue. From the backend, I can see a similar issue that has been resolved by completely removing the local font, which allowed the Preview to render correctly.

Since Figma Sites doesn’t currently support local fonts, it may have been trying to render the font using your local font (the version installed on your device). However, removing the local version from your device, allowed Figma to use the Google Fonts version of Poppins, which then rendered properly in the Preview.
