Plugin rejected for "overlap with Figma MCP server": PDF import, which Figma doesn't support natively
Hi Figma team,
My plugin PDF to Figma — Editable Layers (ID 1695491567288873567) was rejected with: "we're not able to approve apps that overlap with native capabilities in the Figma MCP server. Consider building skills on top of the official use_figma tool.”
The email invites questions, but replying to it returns "This inbox isn't monitored", and the Help Center chatbot sent me here. Could a Community Support specialist please open a private case, so I can send a reconsideration request with details and screenshots?
Briefly, why I believe it doesn't overlap:
• Figma has no native PDF import. Dropping a PDF into Figma Design shows "PDF import is not supported".
• It isn't an AI plugin. It makes no model calls and gives no MCP or other programmatic access to files.
• It parses the PDF file itself, locally in the plugin window. You get the exact text with its original fonts, real vectors and full-resolution images, in seconds, however long the document. When I imported the same PDF through an agent with use_figma, it was slow, couldn't upload the images and hallucinated text.
• It complements MCP. It produces clean frames, and agents then edit, redesign or translate those far better than a raw PDF.
• The file never leaves the user's computer, which matters for confidential client documents.
Thank you!
Mariia
