Permanently deleted file from Trash on Starter plan

I’m on the Starter plan and permanently deleted a Figma file from Trash about a week ago by mistake. It was in my team project, which has the same name as my email address. I’ve checked that team’s Trash, other teams’ Trash, projects, and Drafts, and I cannot find it anywhere. I do not remember the file name. Can anyone confirm whether permanently deleted files can ever be recovered in this situation, or if there is anything else I can check?

Hey @dopaminely, thanks for reaching out!

Once a file has been permanently deleted from trash, it unfortunately can't be recovered and that applies to all plans, including Starter. There's no way for us to restore it from our end.

That said, there are a couple of last things worth checking:

  • Browser history, if you ever opened the file in a browser tab, the URL might still be there. A Figma file URL gives you the file key, which can sometimes help if the file was shared elsewhere.
  • Desktop app (File > Recently Closed), if you use the desktop app, check under File > Recently Closed to see if it still appears there.
  • Past conversations or emails, if you ever shared the file with a teammate or collaborator, they might have a copy or a link in their inbox.

If you do find a file link from any of those places, feel free to share it with us via the Figma support contact form and we can double check if for you. Though I want to be upfront that recovery isn't possible once permanently deleted, even with a link.

For more detail on how Figma handles file deletion and trash, our Delete and restore files Help Center article covers all the scenarios clearly.

I’m really sorry we can't do more here. If there's anything else I can help with, feel free to reach out again!Â
