Omswami

Hello Figma Support Team,

I’m requesting help to recover ownership or admin access for a Figma file that I previously owned.

I originally created and owned this file, and it is saved within my project. Recently, I transferred ownership to another team member (Nil Sakariya) for collaboration purposes. However, their Figma account is currently unverified, and as a result, they are unable to manage access settings, seats, or reassign ownership.

Because of this, all access management is now blocked, and I’m unable to edit permissions or regain ownership, even though the file belongs to my project and ongoing work.

Here are the details:

  • Previous owner: Omswami Choudhury (me)

  • Current owner: Nil Sakariya (unverified account)

  • File link: [redacted]

  • Project name: DNJ Techx

This file is critical to our active college project, and the current owner cannot take any action due to account verification limitations. I’m requesting your help to either:

  • Restore ownership back to my account, or

  • Grant me admin/ownership access so work can continue.

Please let me know if you need any additional proof or information from my side.

Thank you for your time and support.

Email ID: [redacted]

HI @Omswami - I understand that this may be delaying your work, and that it is critical to regain access to the file.

If I understand correctly, this is the current issue:

  • You previously owned a file, that you transferred over to another team member (Nil)
  • Both yourself and Nil are in a team together that has a student plan.
  • Nil is not currently verified as a student, so you run into an issue of file access, since they don’t have the same permissions as yourself. This is causing issues with access to the file, and your ownership can’t be given back to you.

If that is the case, I will not be able to assist with this via forum (for both security and privacy reasons). You’ll also notice I redacted your email address and the file link you provided, just to protect their integrity.

Have you submitted a support ticket? If so, can you please PM that to me? Thanks!
