Why the folders always change the sorty configuration, it must save the previous selection….

Hey @Yesmith Olarte, thanks for reaching out!

Right now, the sort order you choose in Folders (like Alphabetical) doesn't stick. If you navigate away and come back, or refresh the page, it resets to the default "Last modified" sort.

This isn't specific to your account, it's how folder sorting currently behaves for everyone. I've logged your report for our team internally.

In the meantime, you'll just need to re-apply your sort choice each time you revisit a folder. For more on how Folders work overall, take a look at Guide to files and folders.

This is probably my biggest gripe with Figma. I love the addition of the “Folders” organization, but the fact that I can’t save the default sorting option as “alphabetically” drives me crazy.

With my team of designers, the last modified default-sort is very unreliable and unusable to me as a user or manager.

The very first task when opening figma is locating the file that I want. The fact that there is this friction upon launching Figma feels really unpleasant for myself and everyone on the team. The current sorting behavior contains Three issues:

  1. Last modified doesn’t mean “the last file modified by ME”, but modified by anyone. When working in a team, everyone is struggling to find the correct file name
  2. When clicking on the column header for “Name” (to sort alphabetically), it sorts in REVERSE, meaning that Z-values are at the top and A-values are at the bottom. This leads to needing to click twice to organize the files in a way that is intuitive.
  3. When moving to any new folder in Figma, the selection of “Sort” is not preserved and the previous two steps need to be re-resolved.

In short: Please let the user define the sorting functionality they desire, and preserve that selection through the application (at least per session).

And even better would be to allow each user to define in system settings how they want their default sort to function.
