Since 2/3 days ago, the figma links i  use on jira tickets wont open the desktop app anymore and will open the web app without asking me if i want to open the link on the app. I tried clearing the cache but it didnt change anything.

I’m using firefox on windows

Hey @Apolline, thanks for reaching out!

A few things worth checking, in order:

  1. Confirm the Open links in desktop app setting is still switched on. Open any Figma file in Firefox, go to the main menu > Preferences, and check the box next to that setting. If it's already checked, try unchecking it and rechecking it. This has resolved the same issue for other users even when the setting looked correct.
  2. Check the connection status between your browser and the desktop app. Open a file in Firefox, go to main menu > Preferences > Permissions and helpers, and look at the Local network access status. If it shows Blocked or Not connected, follow the prompts there to reconnect it.
  3. Make sure you're logged into the same Figma account in both Firefox and the desktop app. A mismatch here will silently stop links from redirecting.
  4. Confirm the desktop app is fully up to date. On Windows, click the ⌄ menu at the top and select Check for Updates.

One more thing to note: this only applies to links pointing to individual Figma files. If the Jira links point somewhere else in Figma (like the file browser or a Community page), they won't trigger the desktop app prompt regardless of your settings.

For more detail, take a look at Troubleshoot opening links in the Desktop app.
