Older Figma files missing under VU accoun - possible duplicate identity after login issue

I’m trying to access an older Figma design file that I previously worked on under my uni email , but I can’t find it in my current workspace

One of the missing files link: [redacted by forum moderator to remove PII]

I suspect the file is attached to a different identity/login method for the same email (e.g., Google vs VU SSO/SAML), because at some point I couldn’t log in, went through password recovery, and after that my team/workspace setup changed.

 

Help!!!

    Hey ​@e.malnat, I’ve checked internally and it says that this file has been deleted permanently.

    An editor of a file can initially delete the file and leave it in a restorable state. They then have the option to delete it forever. Deleting a file forever is a permanent action that unfortunately cannot be undone.

    Hi Gayani. Thank you for your reply.

    I never deleted this file. I do also have at leave another drawing missing. Which I also did not delete.

    I do not have the link to the other file any more, but I am 100% sure I made it in figma and it is now missing. Is it possible those files were deleted when my account was updated/reset in some way? Can I get them back?

    Hey ​@e.malnat, apologies for the delayed response! 

    Did anyone else have edit access to either file? In some cases, files are deleted by collaborators. 

     

    For the second file, I won’t be able to investigate without a file link. That said, it may still be worth checking a few places for the URL:

    • Your web browser history
    • Past emails or messages where you shared the file with someone
    • File > Recently Closed (if you’re using the desktop app)

    Just to clarify, files aren’t deleted as part of account updates or resets. However, if a file was permanently deleted, it unfortunately can’t be recovered.
