Offline presentation + Prototypes

We use Figma slides for our presentations, sometimes we don’t have internet connection as we present. The option to “Make available offline” works fine, UNTIL there are prototypes in the presentation. This doesn’t work anymore, prototypes don’t load. Tried to open the said prototype and also make it available offline, still doesn’t work.

We absolutely need this to work, we cannot arrive at a presentation with stuff not showing.

So I kindly ask if it would be possible to fix this issue please.

Hi @Simeon1, thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how disruptive this must be. I flagged this over to our Figma Slides team, and they confirmed that this is a known limitation. While you can use Figma Slides offline, embedded prototypes are not able to be preloaded.

They are now reevaluating how this is called out in our Help Center article. Please know that this is now officially on their radar for future consideration.

Thank you for the replay.

Just wanted to add, in the same problem / topic. When sharing a presentation (open, with password), and the prototype (on another file) also need a open with password sharing so people can see it. But that doesn’t work.

Really the presentation sharing function is horrible and needs some improvements please. We don’t want to go back to PPT.

Related but may be different.

I believe I do not have a prototype in my slides file.

I am in audience view, but cannot see the UI button to make available offline see screenshot.

Referring to this article, the UI button should be available https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/24338209202327-Present-a-slide-deck .

What am I missing here? Help!

Hey @jonathan.hawke, thanks for jumping in on this thread!

Looking at your screenshot, it looks like you might be in audience view rather than presenter view. The "Make available offline" option is only available from presenter view, and the two views have different toolbars, which could explain why you're not seeing it.

To get to the right place:

  1. Open the slide deck directly in Figma (not via the shared audience link)
  2. Click Present in the right sidebar
  3. Open the options menu in the top toolbar
  4. Select Make available offline

If you're already doing this from presenter view and the option still isn't appearing, it'd be useful to know whether you're accessing the deck from your own account or via a shared link, as that can affect what's available.

The Present a slide deck article has the full steps if it helps to compare what you're seeing.

Thanks for the quick response.

There seems to be a change in UI / terminology, but I found the solution with your help.

Solution: Select ‘Presentation with notes’ option (not ‘Presentation’).
