Not receiving recent Figma updates (UI3, Slots) on both main and beta app

I noticed that my Figma app hasn’t received some of the recent updates such as new left navigation bar and Slots for components.

I’m using the desktop app, and I also tried installing the beta version, but the features still don’t appear in either version.

To troubleshoot, I also reinstalled the application, but the issue remains the same.

Are these updates still being rolled out gradually, or could this be related to account permissions, region, or workspace settings?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The actual left bar

No new UI in the help section

Hello everyone! I’m happy to tell you that slots is now rolled out to all Full seat users. If you're unable to access the feature, refresh the design file and check if you have edit access to it.

If you do not see the feature after that, please reply or PM me so I can have someone take a look. Enjoy!

I also don’t have access to Slots, but I do for the nav sidebar update.

Based on the article in Help there are maybe 2 issues here at play:

  • It is only available for paid plans (judging from the “Free” badge in your screenshot you might not be on one? Not sure)
  • They say “rolling out starting March 5th”. That’s a real shame and very deceitful in terms of marketing. When they announced it in the Release Notes podcast almost 2 weeks back they made a point to say “March 5th”, not “starting to roll out”. If I don’t have the feature by March 6th (which is today), then I’m being deceived. Especially for a feature that has been teased for almost a year by now?

All of their communication said available on march 5th, and then if you go to the help page it says rolling out on a per-user basis… 🙄 Wasn’t it already rolling out on a per user basis before ?

Im a on a paid plan with a full seat, don’t see any of the new updates. No slots, no new sidebar, no new search color function 😓

Miller_Cristina

Same here! Do not see any of it in Figma.

I am also on a paid seat, and I don't have any of the updates. The sidebar update has been out for a while as well - so if its a time issue, it seems like that one should be present at the very least.

Hi all - really sorry if this has confusing or unclear. Both of these features are still rolling out to users.

To address the left navigation bar: this is a gradual rollout. We don’t have a timeline to share right now, but we’ll update as we learn more.

To address Slots:  it will still continue to roll out to to open beta on March 5th to all full seat / Starter+ users over the course of a week. The rollout is also gradual as swell, so you may see it appear for some teammates before others over the course of the week. Learn more about how we are rolling out slots to you. (someone above did mention this as well, but I wanted to also acknowledge on my end)

I understand that this may be frustrating, and again, I apologize. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on this.

On a paid Organization plan and still no slots.

Same situation here: On a paid seat (Admin of the org) and no news.
Craziest part to me is that my girlfriend on the next room is on a different org and has had access since yesterday.
Bummer!

It’s March 6th and I really need to get onto the Slot update as it will prevent many changes. I am on a paid plan and still cannot see it. I restarted Figma, reloaded all the tools. What’s happening?

Should have said from the beginning that slots is rolling out from 5th to 12th March…
Bad marketing mistake and definitely a hit on customer-trust.

Gabriel_Asuncion

March 9 and my team still does not have this, and we’re on a paid plan. This open beta roll out need a sign me up button to have these features manually. You can still slowly roll out to users, but users who manually sign up should be on this update immediately.

Everyone can kind get access to it right now. But only in a limited scope. Figma published a playground file where there is a slot component namend „Panel“. If you copy and paste that component into your file you can start a NEW component only. You cannot move the slot into another component but you can modify it so it becomes a new component in your file. The backend is clearly updated, most people just don‘t have the UI enabled yet.

Hello Figma team,

Even though Figma notifies me that I am on the latest version when I check for updates, the new features that were recently announced are not appearing in my interface.

Here are the issues I am experiencing:

  • The new Assets / Files sidebar layout on the left panel is not visible.
  • The new Slots functionality is not available in my components.
  • Other recently released UI updates and features are also missing.

I have already tried:

  • Restarting Figma
  • Logging out and back in
  • Updating my desktop app
  • Trying in both the Desktop app and the browser version
  • Restarting my device

Despite this, the new features still do not appear.

Could you please check if there is an issue with my account rollout, permissions, or feature flag settings?

Thank you!

Yeah but you don’t have access to the full UI to set up the slot, so it’s kinda useless.

Hey All, thanks for your continued patience here!

Slots began rolling out on March 5 and will continue to gradually become available to eligible users over the course of this week. Because it’s a phased rollout, some teammates may see it before others.

The left navigation update is also being released gradually. We don’t have a specific timeline to share at this time, but we’ll provide updates here as soon as we do.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to roll these changes out carefully to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

For me it isn’t. I started my entire component library from scratch and have already built 5 components using slots. Even though I don’t have the UI enabled on my end yet. And it works like a charm. The only thing I can’t do is restrict “preferred instances” … well because I’m missing the UI within Figma to do so. But I can create slots (by copy pasting the playground-component with the slot), duplicate them, rename them and add instances within them. And that’s quite all I need to get started

I am currently using 2 accounts, a student account and a free account and I have been seeing everyone around me too using a free account literally getting the new slots update and many other things. I am concerned that everyone is getting it and I am falling behind in keeping up with people especially when they discuss certain functions. Is there a certain way I can force update Figma to get the new UI update? I am really excited to have it and use it in my day-to-day designs.
