Hey @Meagan Cross, thank you for reaching out!

Based on what you’ve described, I assume that the host team’s admin has disconnected the connected project. When a connected project is disconnected, ownership stays with the host team, and external collaborators lose access to all files within that project.

At the point of disconnection, the host admin is given a few options:

  • Do nothing. The external team will lose access to the project once it is disconnected.
  • Share a copy of the project. The host keeps the original project and sends a copy to the external team.

If a copy wasn’t shared at that time, unfortunately access can’t be restored from the external side alone, even if you still have the file URL. In these cases, the only way to regain access is through the host admin who owned the project.

You can find more details on how connected projects work in our Help Center article here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/30124855491863-Guide-to-connected-projects

Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions!
