  • Nested variant property reverts to default in consuming file (library component)
  • Bug type: Feature not functioning as expected
  • Environment: Figma desktop app on macOS
  • Library file URL: https://www.figma.com/design/4hRzDLwr2YIeNgxIiNWBH1/My-Account?node-id=1-40&t=b7pqGU2GtRsvgjYe-1
  • Consuming file URL: https://www.figma.com/design/XlA6pOMDy6iFXaEK92yCj3/Somerford-Park?node-id=15335-87147&t=uoIVKL7XdNHeAcc7-1
  • Parent component set: My Account – My Orders
  • Nested component set: Partial – My Orders List Item
  • Variant property that reverts: Type
  • Expected result: After deep-selecting the nested instance and changing Type via the variant property dropdown in the right sidebar, the selected variant remains applied.
  • Actual result: The nested instance’s Type selection reverts back to the default variant.
  • Repro steps:
1️⃣ In the consuming file, place an instance of My Account – My Orders.
2️⃣ Deep-select the nested instance Partial – My Orders List Item.
3️⃣ In the right sidebar, change the Type variant property.
4️⃣ Observe that Type reverts to the default variant.
  • Notes: The nested instance is not bound to a variable and has no prototype Change to interactions; the parent component set includes a boolean-variable-driven padded/unpadded variant; matching layer name/hierarchy across parent variants has been checked; library republished; Reset all overrides attempted.
