My MCP will disconnect when I switch tab in figma Mac Client.

This is a known behavior with MCP when using the desktop app. Can you please confirm if you’re using the latest version?  
 

MCP currently depends on having an active file open in Dev Mode. When you switch tabs or files, the connection between Figma and your IDE can drop, which is likely why you’re seeing it disconnect.

Here’s a few tips that can help:

• Keep only one active Figma tab open (close unused tabs/windows)

• Stay in Dev Mode on the file you’re working with

• Restart the MCP server in your IDE if it disconnects

• Make sure your Figma desktop app is up to date (latest version is 126.1.4)

• Avoid using fullscreen if you notice any instability on macOS
