Multiple Figma Project Files Disappeared from My Account

Hello Figma Support Team,

I am experiencing a serious issue with my Figma account and would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Last night, without making any changes or taking any actions, 5–6 of my project files suddenly disappeared from my account. I am currently on the free plan. My email address has not been changed, and no one else has access to my account. There has been no suspicious activity to my knowledge.

It appears as if these projects were never created, as they are no longer visible anywhere in my drafts, teams, or recent files. These files are very important to me, and I am concerned about potential data loss.

Could you please investigate this issue and let me know if there is any way to recover the missing files? I would appreciate it if you could check your system logs or backups associated with my account.

Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi @Batuhan Gökberk, welcome to Figma Forum and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I know how stressful this can be — we’ll work through this with you.

Firstly, thanks for checking Drafts, Teams, and Recent files already — that helps a lot. Were these files only saved as drafts, or were any shared or published? We recently made some changes to how drafts are stored, which could explain what you’re seeing. When you have a moment, take a look at this update and let me know if it helps you track them down: Updates to how drafts work.

If that doesn’t surface them, the next best clue is the file links. Can you check your browser history or ask any collaborators if they still have a URL? If you’re able to open a link (or hit an error), tell me what you see — that will help our Product Support team pinpoint where the files went.

We’ve got you, and we’ll keep narrowing this down together.

Hello again, @Batuhan Gökberk — thanks for taking the time to double-check that, and I’m sorry this is still unresolved.

I can’t access account-specific details from this public space, but I’ve gone ahead and opened a ticket with our Product Support team so they can investigate your account directly. Your case number is: 1765038. They’ll follow up with you as soon as they’ve had a chance to review.

I also removed the screenshot from your last post since it included some personal information — thanks for your understanding there.

Please keep an eye on the inbox tied to your Figma account for next steps — we’ll make sure this gets a proper look.

All the files I created around 2024 have disappeared, and I am asking for help to recover my data. This includes four important portfolios that I spent a year designing, but I cannot find them anywhere now. All files created in 2024 and 2025 are missing; this is extremely important to me and has caused me significant loss. It is impossible that I deleted these files myself, so please help me retrieve them. Thank you.

Hello, I’ve encountered the same problem as Batuhan Gökberk. All the Figma files I created from around 2024 onwards (of which I am the sole owner) have disappeared. I desperately need to recover my data. This includes an important portfolio I spent two years designing, but now I can’t find them anywhere—I’ve checked ‘Drafts’, ‘Teams’ and ‘Recently Used Files’. All files created in 2024 and 2025 have vanished; this is very important to me and has caused me a huge loss. It’s impossible that I deleted these files myself, so please help me retrieve them. I have saved PDF files exported from these Figma files, and I clearly remember that I had starred this Figma file; if I’m not mistaken, it should be called ‘Portfolio’. I hope to receive assistance and a reply from Tom Reem.Thank you so much!

Hi @58vincy, Celyn here. I work closely with Tom, happy to help.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble locating your files, let’s work through this together.

From what you’ve shared, it sounds like all files created from 2024 onwards are missing, and you’ve already checked Drafts, Teams, and Recently Used Files.

In many cases like this, it can happen when you’re logged into a different Figma account than the one where the files were originally created. This can happen if:

  • You signed up with Google but are now logging in with email + password (or vice versa)
  • You have multiple email addresses (personal vs work/school)
  • You previously accessed Figma through SSO (company login)
  • The files were in a team workspace and your access to that team has changed

A few quick things to check:

After signing back in, check:

  • Whether your expected teams and projects appear
  • If you’re part of multiple teams, try switching between them

If you’re still unable to locate the files after trying these steps, I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket for you (#1858619) so the team can take a closer look and assist you directly.

If you happen to have any file links, please reply directly to the ticket and share them there, as that can really help with the investigation.

Thanks for your patience in the meanwhile, someone will be in touch soon.

Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately, I’ve tried all the methods you listed but still can’t find those projects. First of all, I’ve only logged into Figma with two email addresses, and neither of them shows those projects. Second, I didn’t log in through my company account for that project, and there are no collaborators, since it’s my personal portfolio.

To make matters worse, I didn’t save or bookmark the links to these Figma projects; I only have a PDF exported from the project (as shown in the screenshot). I hope you can help me find it. It’s really important to me! Thank you!
