Multiple Design Files Suddenly Inaccessible - Getting 404 "Not Found" Error

Hello Figma Community,

I've suddenly lost access to several critical design files in my workspace. When attempting to open these files, I receive the following error message:

"Hmm, we couldn't find that one. This design file may have been deleted, moved, or made unavailable. Try reaching out to the file owner."

Issue Details:

  • The files were accessible previously and have not been intentionally deleted or moved
  • I am the file owner/creator
  • Multiple files are affected simultaneously
  • Error occurs across different browsers/devices
  • Receiving 404 error when accessing the file URLs

What I've Tried:

  • Clearing browser cache and cookies
  • Accessing from different devices/browsers
  • Checking if files appear in "Deleted" section
  • Verifying account permissions and workspace access

There are a couple of additional things worth double-checking, just in case:

  1. Make sure you’re logged in to the correct Figma account (especially if you’ve used more than one email).
  2. If the files live in a shared workspace, confirm that your access hasn’t changed and, if applicable, try reaching out to the file owner directly.

This article may also be helpful for context on what can cause this behavior: My files are not opening → 404 page or “You don’t have permissions”.
