While using Figma motion, the animated frames or components set to play once are resetting to loop animations, every time. In present mode as well as on file.  Please suggest a fix urgently.

HI @Alefiya, thanks for flagging this issue!

I understand the frustration and how this must be affecting your workflow. What you’ve described sounds related to a known behavior: when a component instance is placed into a frame or prototype, the new frame can default to "loop" playback rather than respecting the "play once" setting on the component/instance itself. This would explain why it works fine when you preview the component alone, but it loops once it's placed in the main project. To help us confirm and get this fixed, could you share a bit more?

  1. Is the animation on a component instance nested inside another frame, or is it a top-level frame?
  2. Are you seeing the loop specifically when you preview the prototype (Present mode), or also when just scrubbing the timeline in the file itself?
  3. Could you share a quick screen recording or the file URL link (with Can view access to support-share@figma.com) showing the layer setup and looping behavior?

With these details, we can pass this onto the Motion team to take a closer look. One thing worth checking: right-click the instance in the timeline panel and see if there's a playback/loop override set there that differs from the component's own setting, because that override can sometimes take precedence. Hope that helps!
