Question

Most interactive components randomly stop working

This is the second time this has happened to me.

I have spent a ton of time updating my variant components to work in my prototype. Mostly mouse over interactions. I test like crazy as I am building. I test in the component library files and I test in a copy of one of our prototypes. While I am building things are working great. Later in the day, I restart Figma, then go back to the same prototype, and just about all of the interactive components stop working.

I have tried opening up the prototype up in both the desktop (Mac) and the web version of Figma but neither are working.

I tried several restarts and reloading of the prototype but nothing work. Now one thing I did notice, one of my co-workers was in the prototype. After he left all the interactive components started to work again with one exception. All the components that include images (i.e. avatars), the images are not showing up.

Anyone else experiencing this or similar issues?

And again!

This problem is very random. Today again the images are not showing up. I included a screenshot of the prototype missing the images. And just for context I also included my internet speed at the time of this occurrence.

To fix the problem (for now) I had to close all tabs, then quit and restart.

The same img as above when it is working (post restart).

Has something happened recently? Literally, all of my Figma interactive components have stopped working properly.

+1 In the prototype, when hovering over any component with the “While hovering” effect, the entire prototype freezes and no longer works.
Even restarting the prototype doesn’t work. 😱

Yup. All interactive components stopped working after last update. This is why I hate updating any software. Sh*t always breaks because no one QAs properly before releases.

Check your features, people.

I tested back and forth – in my case it’s not random and it doesn’t affect all interactive components. The problem only occurs with components that expand and only if the outer frame has an auto layout.
If you remove the auto layout from the outer frame it works fine. But if you stack elements you still have to combine them in a frame with auto layout, otherwise the expanding components overlap.

Meaning either you draw a fixed frame around the whole layout or you remove the auto layout from the outer frame and then combine all the elements inside in an auto layout.

Random jankiness. Works for a while and then simply breaks. Doesn’t matter what you do, can’t make it return to a working state. Irritating.

I’ve had similar issues. I’ll create a component > test them in prototyping > and then they seem to work fine. A few days later (in some cases, only a few hours later), the same components don’t work in my prototype anymore.

The only way to get them to work again is to delete any instances of the component in a design and re-add them.

Damn, been building and rebuilding my prototype because components randomly stopped working only to find out the components are fine, it’s the playground that’s wonky… Please fix playground! It would really help prototyping if it would work!

Any solution for that? QQ’’
I’m still frustrated to reset interaction one by one… and I didn’t change anything.
The dropdown menu click action link disappeared. Sometime it happened when hovering to a component.
