Missing Figma files

Hi, I’m on the Starter plan and I’m trying to recover a missing file/project. File link: [redacted by forum moderator to remove PII] When I open the link, I get: “Hmm, we couldn’t find that one.” I’ve checked Trash in all teams and didn’t find it. Can you help confirm whether the file was deleted (including permanently deleted) or whether my access was removed, and what recovery options I have?

PS: This is only one of the files links I could find, there should be 2-3 more projects missing, this could be after my plan was downgraded to starter from educational.

There was a team I was in with all these projects, potentialy called AthletiX. I do not remember well.

Hey @Zino209, thanks for sharing all of that context!

I checked the file link you provided, I'm afraid no file exists matching the URL that you shared. This would indicate that the file was deleted permanently.

An editor of a file can initially delete the file and leave it in a restorable state. They then have the option to delete it forever. Deleting a file forever is a permanent action that unfortunately cannot be undone.

For more information about our data deletion policies, please see our article on Deleting and restoring files and section 6.5 Deleting Content from our Terms of Service (TOS) and our Privacy Policy. For General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) related information, please review this Help Article.

Regarding your plan downgrade, moving from an Education plan to Starter would not delete your files. If you exceed the Starter plan limits, Figma restricts editing, but the files themselves should still exist unless they were manually removed or access was changed.

Since you also mentioned a team “AthletiX”, it’s possible that:

  • The files were created under that team and later deleted, or

  • Your access to that team was removed

If you happen to have any additional file links, feel free to share them. I’m happy to check those as well to help piece together what might have happened.
