Hi,

I'm trying to recover a file that has suddenly disappeared from my account.

- File name: kiwozoo (approximate)
- The file was stored in my Drafts
- It was accessible as recently as early 2025
- I no longer have the file URL

I have already checked Drafts, Trash, and the Search bar — the file does not appear anywhere. I did not delete it intentionally and no one else had access to it.

Could someone from the support team please check the backend history for my account and see if this file can be recovered?

Account email: redacted by the moderator due to PII

Thank you!

Hey @ksw, thanks for reaching out!.

There are a few places worth checking that are easy to miss:

  1. In your Drafts, look for a Deleted section. If the file is there, you can right-click and restore it.
  2. If you're part of multiple teams, each team has its own trash, so it's worth checking each one in case the file ended up somewhere unexpected.
  3. Double-check you're signed into the right Figma account. If you have more than one, the file might be sitting in a different account's Drafts.
  4. If teammates had access, it's possible the file was moved to another project or team without you realising.

A couple of edge cases to keep in mind too:

  • If the team the file belonged to was deleted, its files won't appear in trash. You'd need to restore the deleted team to get access again.
  • If a project was deleted, its files move to trash individually, and you can duplicate them back to Drafts from there.
  • If the file was permanently deleted, it won't appear in trash at all, and recovery would need to go through our support team directly.

Finding the file URL would also really help us investigate further. You might be able to track it down via your browser history, any past chats or emails where you shared the file, or the File > Recently Closed menu in the Figma desktop app.

This Help Center article covers deleting and restoring files in more detail: Delete and restore files.

Let me know what you find, happy to help further!Â
