Question

Main file components not receiving updates from linked design system library

Over the past few days, changes made to components in my primary Design System file are no longer syncing correctly to my separate Product Design file. When I update a component in the design system library and accept/publish the changes, the instances in my main design file either fail to render the updates or show visual glitches.

Since this workflow worked fine previously, I suspect this might be a recent bug with library synchronization. Could you please help investigate or suggest a fix?

Hey there, thanks for flagging this, Celine from the Community Support at Figma here! Hmm this looks odd, since the library updates were working as expected before and you’re now seeing instances either not update or display visual glitches after publishing changes, we’d like our support team to take a closer look.

Before that, a few things worth checking:

1. Reload the file or try a different browser/app: Try reloading the affected file or opening it in another browser or the Figma desktop app to see if the behavior persists.

2. Republish the library: Try unpublishing and republishing the library file (this can sometimes force a fresh sync.)

3. Make a small edit and republish: In the library file, make a minor change to the affected component (e.g. adjust opacity slightly from 100% → 99%), then publish the update again and accept it in your Product Design file.
If the issue continues, I'd recommend submitting a bug report so our team can investigate further. When submitting

To submit: go to the Support Hub / Type “Report a bug, Contact an agent” / Click Start a chat and select Enter.

Then, in the form, , please include:

  • The URL of both the Design System/library file and the affected Product Design file
  • Screenshots or a screen recording showing the published component and how the instance appears afterwards
  • Grant "can view" access to support-share@figma.com
  • Mention the step you have tried so far

This allows us to reproduce the issue and investigate, thanks!
