lost email, need to recover account

I’m reaching out because I’ve lost access to the email address that was used to create and log in to my Figma account, and I’m hoping to recover my account or the content associated with it.

Account information

  • Email used for the account: [redacted by forum admin/moderator to remove PII]

  • Login method: Google / university SSO (University of Washington)

  • Status of email: Permanently disabled by the university

Because this was a school-managed Google account, I no longer have any way to receive emails or authenticate through Google, which has locked me out of my Figma account.

What I need help with

I would like to recover access to:

  • My Figma files and projects

  • Any drafts, designs, or prototypes created under this account

  • Any teams or workspaces associated with this email

If possible, I would be very grateful for help with:

  • Recovering the account, or

  • Transferring the account/content to a new personal email: [redacted by forum admin/moderator to remove PII]

Verification note (important)

I want to be transparent that I may not be able to provide some of the usual verification items (such as email confirmation or automated login checks), due to the permanent deactivation of my university email.

However, I can provide alternative proof of ownership and identity, including:

  • A detailed description of the projects and their contents

  • Context on how and when the projects were created

  • Screenshots, exports, or external links showing my authorship and use of the designs

  • Personal identification and any documentation needed to confirm my identity

  • Any other form of proof you consider acceptable

I’m very willing to cooperate fully and follow whatever verification process you recommend.

Additional context

The email account is permanently disabled and cannot be reactivated from my side. These projects are important to my work, and I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how best to proceed.

I understand that you’ve lost access to the email address previously linked to your Figma account and are looking for a way to regain access to your work.

 

If emails from your old account are being forwarded to your current email address, the easiest way to recover access is to reset your password. Once you’re logged in, you can update the email address in your account settings.
That said, this may not apply in your case, since your school-managed Google account has been permanently disabled. You can find more details here: Manage email address or password

 

If you’re no longer able to receive emails from that address, our support team may be able to review options for manually updating the email address associated with the account.

Please note that we’re not able to transfer account content on your behalf, and for security and privacy reasons, we can’t handle account-specific issues directly here in the forum.
