Hi, I purchased a collab seat and I am unable to Edit my own figma file now. I am the owner of the file but it shows a view only access to my file

Hi @Srajan Gupta 👋 Thanks for your post.

Your screenshot helps. Could you send one more: Admin > People, with your own row and the Seat type column visible? That's more diagnostic than the file view.

Two quick questions:

  • Are you a team admin on this plan, or a member?
  • What were you doing in the file when the upgrade prompt appeared?

One thing worth checking: each seat type unlocks a different set of Figma products, so it's worth confirming which one you're currently assigned. Manage seats in Figma has the full breakdown. For example for Collab seats:

I'd also hold off on clicking Start editing in the file until we've confirmed your seat, just so nothing gets added to your subscription unintentionally. And if you'd like the payment itself reviewed, you can reach the billing team directly through this form.

Hi @Jaycee Lewis . I have attached the screenshot, pls check.

  • Are you a team admin on this plan, or a member?
I am the admin on this plan, I purchased the plan.

  • What were you doing in the file when the upgrade prompt appeared?
I was editing the file, I planned to purchase the collab seat in between> completed the payment>came back to my file to see that I now only have the view only access.

Pls get this sorted ASAP, I have many things pending on that file.

Thanks

Hi, @Srajan Gupta - stepping in for @Jaycee Lewis. Thanks for the screenshots! I reviewed them but did remove them from your post since they included your email address. It was helpful to see what you see, though!

Have you tried un-assigning the Collab seat from yourself? If you click on Collab in the Seat type column, you should be able to change that to Full which will give you editing access again. You’ll then have that Collab seat free to assign to another person on your team. Let us know if you’re unable to do this, though.
